If anyone's interested, I now tweet here. In Japanese and English. About really random stuff. Follow away lol (*ゝω・)b⌒☆

IRL friends please PM me or something, although I don't really tweet as much on my other account.

P.S. I do update the BBT folder with episodes every Friday or so. You can probably find them on other sites before they pop up here though, there may be a delay when I'm a bit busy :p

I don't know what came over me today but I ended up doing lots of random research about this song (lyrics are from the Shaman King manga in its entirety, I discovered.) >_> ...Heck, I don't even read Shaman King!

In any case, afaik, with the exception of the official English translation of this poem in the licensed manga (which I have yet to so much as set my eyes upon), the translations seem rather bad in general imo. And that really annoys me. This song really deserves justice if it's got people making such an awesome, touching song out of it. Although I do admit it is really hard to translate :s

Disclaimer: I won't say that I know exactly what it's trying to say. It's pretty ancient Japanese, which I haven't managed to fully grasp yet, and has several puns/words with double meanings as well as numerous similar phrasings, most likely for aesthetic/literary effect. It's very intriguing, and that's what prompted me to go on a Googling hunt in English and Mandarin and Japanese :'D

In other words, feel free to critique/comment on this.

Here goes, anyway. Personal comments/points of note are in italics, mostly at the end of each section.

3 sections, translated with notes... )

...I really should be studying. :'D orz
That said, this really has piqued my interest in Shaman King by a lot more than when I first came across it on free-to-air TV :s

P.S. When I heard this song, this totally applied (comment snatched from some Japanese website with the lyrics |D): シャーマンキングのこと1mmもしらないけどこれはやばい泣けた and there was another one: シャーマンキング知らぬども 小生は この歌聞いて泣きぬれん
P.P.S. Mandarin and Japanese translations line-for-line here, although you can't use ctrl-c =A=;

...Another good version of the song here: NND or YT.

...So I lied. Who knew it'd take me a week to cope with bombardments of back-to-school homework (mainly economics and math D:) and edit 200 pages worth of raw shoujo scans? Sigh. On the other hand, though, if I scanned a series that I really loved, I think I'd take a month to edit everything nicely |D So yes, I have been lazy for this.

Love Planet aka Koi Suru Wakusei (恋する惑星)
Story and Art by Kisaragi Sono (如月園)

Summary: Mello is a normal girl who has lived on Earth her whole life... or so she thought. It turns out she's an alien who has been living 250 light years away from her home planet. But going back means leaving her childhood friend, Ichi (an Earthling), behind... Love Planet is a series of 6 oneshots: Koi Suru Wakusei, HUG!, Kimagure Robots, Itooshi no Giant-sama, HAKKA!, BIRTHDAY SONGS 4/1.
Very shoujo, mostly love stories with just a pinch of comedy. )

...I'll go back to being a translator now kthxbai orz

Not tagging this with anything else but genre because people seem to love the TP versions just fine :p A tad slow though, they're around 3 volumes behind atm :l

Immortal Rain aka Meteor Methuselah (メテオ・メトセラ) Vols 1-10 + Extras
by Ozaki Kaori (尾崎かおり)

Summary: For centuries, the eternal Rain Jewlitt has escaped attacks from assassins and bounty hunters who want to uncover his timeless secret. One of his pursuers, the Grim Reaper Zol, lost his life while attempting to kill Rain. In the wake of Zol's death, his 14-year-old granddaughter Machika vows to avenge her grandfather's death and put an end to Rain's immortality -- but she soon realizes that the thin line between love and hate just might last forever ... (Updated TP synopsis)
Immortal + Tomboyish Girl = Adventure + Action )

Also, have a random guitar score for this song called Sukiyaki :D It's not very high level since I can play it |D but it sounds great nonetheless and it's fun to play :3 And nice to sing, even if the lyrics are really sad :'< (Disclaimer: got the score from my guitar teacher but idk where it came from. Composed by H. Nakamura though.) Apparently it sounds more like a shamisen if you play closer to the bridge~ :D

Lyrics here, if anyone wants.

P.S. just finished scanning Koi Suru Wakusei by Kisaragi Sono today, I will probably be posting it up this week.

School is starting soon, sigh. I'd rather stay a NEET like I am every holiday orz.

Anyway, holiday homework's not going quite as planned, so I decided to take a short break and post stuff. :D

My Classmate is a Monster aka Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun (となりの怪物くん) Vol 1
by Robico (ろびこ)

Summary: Haru is the problem kid of the class, who hasn't gone to school ever since he got into a bloody fight on the first day of school. Shizuku is just the opposite -  an exceptional student with excellent grades; in fact, that's all she ever cares about. One day, Shizuku meets Haru for the first time when the homeroom teacher begs her to bring his notes to his house, and Haru one-sidedly decides that they're friends... And maybe even more than that?!
Emotionless Girl x Troublemaker Boy )

Mr Super Clean: Fully Equipped aka Keppeki Shounen Kanzen Soubi (潔癖少年 完全装備) Vol 1-2 (Complete)
by Tobina Touya (トビナトウヤ)

Summary: Sata Senda has an OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). He is obsessed with cleanliness and hygiene. Not only does he normally avoid any form of close contact, he also carries around an anti-bacterial spray and wears a mask for good measure. As a result, he has obviously has no friends. But will that change when he's forced to go for a field trip with the entire class?
OCD x first love x comedy )

Sigh, back to work.

YOKO, aka Yokota Takuma. I came across this artist not too long ago, and I was rather surprised by how dark and ...deep? the plots tended to get and how satisfying the conclusions were despite some of the ridiculous, unbelievable premises, although it could get a tad draggy midway. It was also very amusing to see parodies of well-known series like Death Note and Code Geass as well as references to other YOKO works in addition to the incorporation of 2ch memes into the story (although I'm no expert at these, obviously).

And of course, the art is rather well done, in a style neither 'pretty' per se nor entirely realistic but always in proportion and expressive and dramatic enough to describe the characters, setting and story. However, all but one of his series (the one published online for JUMP) are mostly presented in the form of scanned sketched with some editing on photoshop or some other digital software, and I personally think his coloured illustrations need work.

Onani Master Kurosawa (オナニーマスター黒沢)
Story by Ise Katsura (伊瀬カツラ or in his later works, 伊瀬勝良)
Art by YOKO aka Yokota Takuma (横田卓馬)

Summary: Onani means masturbation. And that's what this guy is good at. Every day after school, he sneaks into the mostly unused girls bathroom on the 3rd floor, and masturbates. But one day he gets caught, and is blackmailed into a certain 'trade-off'... This is a story of mistakes, redemption, and the choices made in between. It contains the worst and best of the human condition.

自分の欠点を見つめ、目を背けずに変えていく事の大変さ、 大切さ、そして素晴らしさ )

Molester Man aka Chikan Otoko (痴漢男)
by YOKO aka Yokota Takuma (横田卓馬)

Summary: Chikan Otoko is a 20 year old college student who also happens to be an otaku. As such, he leads a rather lonely life without any friends, much less a girlfriend. But one day he is mistaken as a stalker and molester on his way home, and his life is changed completely. A love story based on an anonymous 2ch entry.

先日、ものすごい勢いで痴漢に間違えられた。 )

It Seems Boon was Being Bullied aka Boon ga Ijime ni Atteita You Desu (ブーンがいじめにあっていたようです)
by YOKO aka Yokota Takuma (横田卓馬)

Summary: A short comic based on another 2ch entry that has been preserved here.

DQN共めえええ! )

Tsunbaka (ツンバカ)
by YOKO aka Yokota Takuma (横田卓馬)

Summary: Tsun is an extremely clumsy tsundere who often forgets her way home, uses her chopsticks to write and even wears her pajamas to school under her skirt by accident. Given her peculiar tendencies, she is unable to carry out many daily activities like a normal person, much less express her true feelings for Boon, her classmate and childhood friend. Meanwhile, Boon is aiming to pass the bar examination in order to support Tsun in the future. Will he succeed? And will Tsun be able to tell Boon how she feels?

ブーンが司法試験合格を目指すようです )

Blossoming in War aka Senka ni Saku (戦下に咲く)
by Yokota Takuma (横田卓馬)

Summary: Kaichuu, or Armoured Insects, are creatures which appear from warps in space and threaten the safety of humans. And Kageki-Tsukai, the Flower Spear Wielders, are the only ones who can stop them. This is a story about the tragedy and determination of 2 such young warriors, Youichirou and Kaho.

私もう…戦士ですから。 )

I really don't think this artist gets as much recognition as he deserves ; m ; Here's to fixing that |D Overall I would consider OMK to be by far the best stuff here, but both Senka ni Saku and Boon are not bad for oneshots. I also liked Tsunbaka, but honestly I did find it a little draggy in between.

I find it a little difficult to follow the plot at times for both of these series (especially Jabberwocky), but the art styles used are very interesting. I'll just leave these here~

Traumeister (トラウマイスター)
by Nakayama Atsushi (中山敦支)

Summary: Hika Souma, called Picasso by friends, is 17 and still without a girlfriend after being dumped 13 times. One day, a pretty girl who later introduces herself as Sujata drags him out from a moving train, and with her unwanted assistance, his childhood trauma toward demons (oni) takes the form of a real demon summoned out from his body.
Very unique art style and lots of action, with some comedy. )

Jabberwocky (ジャバーウォッキー)
by Hisa Masato (久正人)

Summary: One of the Japanese promos calls it "Da Vinci Code meets Jurassic Park". That sums it up pretty nicely. It's got dinosaurs, spies, intrigue, action, and conspiracy, all rendered in lovely film noir-esque art with a little fan service cherry on top (Lily!). And for the slightly geeky, it's got cool (and sometimes obscure) references to art, literature, film, history, science... you name it.
Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch! ...DINOSAURS )

Look out for a long post on one artist's works coming up soon. And BBT 4.03 should be fully uploaded soon >_>

2ch Depressed Mario Thread Part 1

2ch Depressed Mario Thread Part 2

Gogatsubyou Mario is a NND/2ch artist who is most well known for his 2ch thread of the same name meaning Depressed Mario, as shown above. In fact that's where he got his pseudonym, since 2ch is an anonymous forum. He's also illustrated a Depressed Mario Uma-uma (absolutely adorable imo) and the hilarious & catchy Japanese Ninja No.1 PV (linked) in addition to many other videos (NND MyList links only).

His art style is rather minimalistic and cutesy (clean, cartoony lines with crayon-textured colouring in SAI) for Depressed Mario and the following books (not exactly manga per se, but let's leave the tags as such), but at the same time it's very distinct. As seen in the Japanese Ninja No.1 PV, though, it seems that's not all he can draw ;D Without further ado, on to the highlights of this post! (I apologise in advance for my terrible synopses.)

by Gogatsubyou Mario (5月病マリオ)

Summary: In this unconventional retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, Little Red is just the sort of girl who figures hoods are out of fashion. So obviously she takes it off. Like any other bratty little girl, she groans when Mom tells her to visit Grandma who is sick in bed. But of course since there's pocket money involved she can't possibly refuse! Little did she know that she would meet Mr. Mole, Mr. Hunter and of course the Big Bad Wolf. Will Little Red Riding's carefree attitude cause her demise, or will things turn out any different from the traditional fairy tale?

by Gogatsubyou Mario (5月病マリオ)

Summary: This time Little Red meets the White Rabbit, who was incidentally halfway through a race with a turtle. Together they discover a mysterious hole in the ground which leads them to Wonderland. There she meets many delightful personalities like the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts, in addition to characters from the first book. How exactly will the airheaded Little Red manage to get herself out of Wonderland?
